The Eucharist is the heart and the summit of the church's
life, for in it Christ associates his Church and all her members with his
sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving offered once for all on the cross to his
Father; by this sacrifice he pours out the graces of salvation on his Body
which is the Church." {Catechism #1407).
Adoration. Each Monday, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed in the church for adoration and prayer from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Confessions are at 6:30 p.m., Rosary at 6:45 p.m. and Novena to our Lady of the Miraculous Medal is at 7:00 p.m. Choir. Some twenty-five men and women don choir robes each Sunday to enhance the beauty and dignity of the 10:30 Mass by using their vocal talents. Rehearsals are held weekly on Thursday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., except in summer. The choir also sings occasionally at other Masses and special events. Contact the Music Director at 836-0011. Children's Choir. The Children's Choir regroups in the fall of each year, and begins its preparation to sing for the holidays and for special occasions throughout the year. Membership is open to children in grades 3 through 8. Contact Music Director at 836-0011. Altar Care. A group of ladies contributes a few hours each week, on Monday and Friday following the 8:00 Mass, to care for the sacristy and sanctuary. No heavy cleaning is involved. Altar Servers. Boys and girls in Grade 6 and older are eligible to become altar servers. Servers assist the priest at liturgical services, serve as positive role models for children in the congregation, and come closer to Jesus, as they render service to him. Contact the Rectory office at 836-0011. Eucharistic Ministers at Mass. These men and women assist the priest celebrant in the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass, serving perhaps once, or twice a month, usually at the same Mass. Training is provided. Folk Group. These adults and young adults enjoy using their musical and vocal talents to praise God at Mass. They usually serve at the 7:00 Mass on Saturday evenings except in July and August. Practice takes place once a week. Lectors. Men and women serve in this liturgical role by reading the Scriptures at regular weekend Masses and on special occasions. A training session takes place, and a lector would serve perhaps twice a month. Liturgy Committee. The liturgy is both the source and the summit of all parish life and activity. The Committee oversees liturgical ministries, and seeks to ensure that Masses and Church services are reverent and effective. Prayer Group. The Precious Blood of Jesus Prayer Community gathers each Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. in the Don Miller Hall for scripture sharing, songs of praise and worship, shared prayer and social activities. Members support one another with caring, prayers, and encouragement on their journey of faith. All are welcome to join. Ushers. Ushers are present before Mass to greet people as they arrive. They seat late-comers, obtain gift bearers for the offertory procession, take up the collection, conduct people from their pews at Communion time, and hand out bulletins as people leave Church. Ushers serve at the same mass each week. |
