An Appreciation of Moms on Mother’s Day
We read in the Book of Proverbs: “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she
can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instructions is on her tongue.” Ephesians 31
As we gather on this Mother’s Day Weekend, we as a Parish Family ask blessings upon all Mother’s Living and Deceased. We pray Loving God, as a mother gives life and nourishment to her children, so you watch over your Church. Bless these women, that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Grant we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect and love. Heavenly Father, we ask you to bless all Mother’s today through Christ our Lord.
In honor of Sunday’s holiday: Mother’s Day, we are asking that you share stories that demonstrate the awesomeness of all the moms out there by posting your story with a photo of the special mother you want to recognize on our Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/544274256453475/?active_tab=discussion
This could be your Mother, your Aunt, your Sister, your Grandma, your God Mother, your neighbor, etc. Post a photo and a short story to pay tribute to the mom you celebrate and recognize and be sure to include #stameliamomsrock in your post! Tells us what makes them so awesome, why you are thankful for her, how they have played a special role in your life, what they have taught you, etc. If you have friends or relatives that are not on Facebook and they would like to participate, they can email their photo and story to email@example.com and we will post for them.
Mothers’ Day gives us all an opportunity to be grateful. Maybe you have fond memories of your grandmother’s cooking and how she taught you her secret family recipe for pasta and sauce. Or maybe you often think about the look on your mom’s face when you take that special family photo for Christmas. Could it be the memories you might have of the love you felt when your wife held your first newborn child? Or who said prayers with you at bedtime before turning in at night?
Mom’s are there for us always! When we fall and skin our knee, they are there to kiss the boo-boo and wipe our tears away. When we had our first school dance, they were there to capture the memory with tons of photos and their face beamed with happiness. When we had our first sports game they were there cheering us on. When we needed someone to listen, to care and to help us – Mom is always there! She gave us life, but more importantly she taught us how to be, how to survive and how to live life
So, this Mother’s Day, we want to recognize and pay special tribute to our biggest fans, our moms! We celebrate these great, strong women in our lives as they would do anything for us!
