Parish Update – May 23, 2020

We are looking forward to the day that we can officially open up our Church to public Masses. However for the time being we are limited to live stream Masses only. While the government has been recently lifting restrictions, we will be following the directives from our local Diocese and Bishop Scharfenberger as to when we are allowed to hold public Masses. We have a committee working to ensure that we have all of the...

A Special Message – Fr. Sibby

Dear Parishioners, As we mark over two months struggling with this coronavirus pandemic and hear and read about it in the news, our lives and families have been disrupted immeasurably. We read about the number of deaths throughout the world;  rules about six feet of distance and wearing of masks; no visitors to hospitals or nursing homes; no gatherings in churches for sacraments and prayer; and the stress and  anxiety affecting families and most all...

In Loving Memory of Fr. Sibby’s Mom: Connie Pierro

We offer our sincere condolences to Fr. Sibby and his family upon the passing of his mother, Connie Pierro. Connie resided on the second floor at McAuley Residence in Kenmore, NY and sadly was diagnosed, after her 85th birthday with the coronavirus on April 27th. Under the care of Catholic Health, she was moved from McAuley Residence to Absolute Care in Orchard Park where COVID-19 nursing home patients were treated. She later passed on May...

Kids Coloring & Crowning Contest

It has been a long-standing Catholic tradition to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary in May.  St. Amelia Church held a special virtual May Crowning on Friday May 1st presenting Mary with a crown, a litany of prayers and songs to signify her queenship as the mother of Christ, the King. In most Catholic churches (and even in many Catholic homes), a “May Altar” is erected with a statue or picture of Mary, flowers, and perhaps candles. The altar...

An Appreciation of Moms on Mother’s Day

She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instructions is on her tongue.” Ephesians 31 As we gather on this Mother’s Day Weekend, we as a Parish Family ask blessings upon all Mother’s Living and Deceased. We pray Loving God, as a mother gives life and nourishment to her children, so you watch over your Church. Bless...

St. Amelia Virtual Mass Mob

Thank you all for joining us virtually for Mass each week during this coronavirus pandemic.  Fr. Sibby and Fr. Let’s show them our appreciation by joining in our St. Amelia Virtual Mass Mob!  This weekend (April 25 and 26) or next (May 2nd and 3rd) as your family is at home watching Mass virtually, take...
